Annual Report

At the start of 2025, imagining the year ahead felt like looking into the abyss, wondering which of the Trump regime’s oppressive whims would most affect the folks we support. The federal government attacked abortion via Planned Parenthood and accelerated dehumanizing acts against trans people of any age. The administration’s intense focus on people of all immigration statuses also affected care seekers who might need to travel longer distances via airline or bus.

But then came the support I could not have predicted. When we attended large public events like Sun ‘n Fun and Airventure, we were greeted by hundreds of supporters, both new and old. We were able to raise more than 150% of our funding goals for the year. With that extra support, we flew more flights than ever before.

While we heard from referring partner organizations and passengers alike about the impact of these flights, there was one additional continuous refrain that I heard throughout the year, both from people in person as well as online.

We not only were succeeding at helping people with this amazing network of volunteer pilots, but also we were giving people a sign that good people will stand up, use their resources, and take risks to help people they’ve never met. What had started with hope at the start of 2025 became a symbol of resistance.

People need and want abortions. Trans people will not only continue to exist, but will have the opportunity to thrive and be happy. Every passenger. Every partner. Every staff member. Every donor. Every pilot. Every person symbolizes that defiance, the work toward a more just society where every person has the right to control their own body and future, to make their own decisions about whether or not to have children, and to raise children in a safe and healthy environment.
